Shadowcove: Prophecy
Shadowcove: Prophecy is a dedicated, 7-year-old family-friendly shard geared toward people who are interested in light roleplay, questing, crafting and monster hunting without needing to worry about being PK'ed or experiencing 'adult' content.
Our shard has unmatched reliability, real-time Web Site integration you won't find anywhere else at all and a totally unique UO world. Unlike most shards out there, Shadowcove's developers are experienced at writing actual software, meaning we aren't limited at all to mere 'scripting' to implement unique features.
Not only is our map almost entirely custom, but so are many of the other systems we have. Our skill gain system is unlike anyone else's; Buy training, gain-by-use, or gain by finding or being an apprentice. Housing and town systems allow players fine control over what goes on in each town, with town citizenship being based on actual home ownership. Pets and henchmen have unique abilities - hatch a dragon from an egg and watch it grow; Have your henchmen save you from the brink of death if you should slip up; Dot-Commands exist to make so many things much easier. You won't miss that third-party 'helper' program at all.
We are an Application-Only shard, but our application doesn't ask you to tell us your life story, build a full-fledged background story for your character (we think that's what Role play itself is for!), or ask you to interpret ink blots. Just a couple free-form questions is all we need.
We carefully police the shard to keep it family friendly and free of exploiters and scammers. Our number one goal is to keep the playing field level for everyone, so that everyone can enjoy the shard.
Our shard installation won't break your UO client. Almost NO other shards do this, even though it's so simple! But we've gone further; We have an automated patcher/launcher which makes sure your client files are up-to-date all the time, and makes sure that our own custom client files don't interfere at all with any other shards you play on. Many shards tell you to overwrite important client files, or they tell you to make whole copies of the UO directory and rename them back and forth with each shard. None of that, on Shadowcove!
If you want a shard that is at all open to PvP, this isn't the place for you. If you want a shard that encourages 'Role-played Evil'; this isn't the place for you.
